Philly & Baltimore

We loved Philly, especially in the part of town where two of my best friends live.  This post is short though and doesn’t show that however because I kept thinking there would be more time.  (lesson learned).  However I still had  to put up the few pictures I had as a place marker for the memories to flood into my mind.  The memories of Nelson, running through the rainy streets, cheese tasting, dinner parties and game nights, byob restaurants, indie stores, clothing exchanges, kombucha tasting, and loads of conversations ending in me saying “I am going to live next to you guys some day”.  Jessa and Al you are two of the best!

The joke of the trip was that Baltimore was Skyler’s favorite city (that he had never been to).  He has seen it in movie’s and always thought the brick city had something special to it.  Sadly by the time we got there it was pouring rain so we didn’t get to do the normal tourist things, however thanks to our host we felt like locals and Baltimore lived up to its hype.  Our only pictures of Baltimore are of our couch surfing host in his apartment below, but this post is a thank you to him and another place holder for the good times and memories.  Matt is the manager at a bar a couple of miles from his house, so we sought refuge there and had no idea the fun we were in for.  Matt spoiled us with giving us beer tastings of all the local brews on tap, on top of bbq sauce tasting.  Then throughout the night his friends continued to buy us “welcome to baltimore” shots and gave us a thorough tour of the 3 story bar, even out onto the roof.  After their shift ended they took us to another one of Skyler’s favorites, KBBQ and treated us like we have known them for years.  For anyone out there not familiar with couch surfing, or weary of it, I can tell you I have nothing but good things to say about it.  Besides, any of the bad things I could say about it just turn into funny stories.  Thank you Matt!
